One of our favorite traditions, the Gari occurs before the wedding day and entails rubbing a tumeric paste on the groom’s skin.  The Medhi follows with henna on the bride’s hands and arms along with her family, friends, and gorgeous gold bangles.

It’s been busy at Weddings Unique!  The WU team is off to Miami this weekend for an exciting, colorful celebration.  Indian weddings have age-old rituals, vibrant colors, and delicious food, here’s a few of our favorite unique traditions and the meaning behind it.

Vidhai – Known as the most emotional ritual of an Indian wedding is when the parents of the bride formally say goodbye as she joins the family of the groom.

Henna – is used as a way to decorate and beautify the bride. The groom’s initials are traditionally hidden in the pattern and he must search for them on the wedding night!
