Fashion-Forward Bridal Gowns

by Heather on April 3, 2008

With a high fashion trend toward more revealing couture designs showing plunging necklines and temptress styles, sometimes the bride is more a vision of vamp than a virgin in white. It’s becoming more typical for a growing number of brides to flout convention and flaunt their curves.

And it’s really no wonder that bride-to-be are envisioning their walk down the aisle to be more like walking the “cat walk”. After months of intense dieting and strenuous bridal bootcamp workouts, this fashionista bride wants to show her best sexy self all the way to the altar.

Millie Harris of “The Collection“, a bridal boutique in Winter Park, Florida, confirms that with ornate embellishments and bolder colors this year’s bride is not afraid to select a heart-stopping look that will keep her friends talking for years!

So if you’re fierce and fabulous and intent on taking a risk with your wedding gown, heed this advice:

  • Do trendy with a nod of timeless style – remember that photos and video tell the story for years to come.
  • Keep your ‘audience’ in mind as showing too much skin can offend. Choose fashion that features just one noticeable area, like a daring decolletage bearing neckline.
  • Accessories can sometimes seduce – Sexy stilettos or earrings that brush your collar bone can elongate and draw attention to all the right places.
  • Always get a second opinion – If you don’t have a fashion forward friend who will tell you the truth, have someone photograph you in the gown so you can judge for yourself. (Keep in mind that bridal boutiques won’t allow you to take shots of the dress before you purchase, so use an old-fashioned Polaroid and let your sales attendant discard it before you leave.)
